Purpose
The purpose of PULSE at UC San Diego is to create a community for students pursuing careers in healthcare. Our mission is inclusive of all aspiring physicians who seek connection, mentorship, and access to meaningful resources along the prehealthcare path. Our goal is to address the sense of isolation many students face while preparing for medical, dental, optometry, or pharmacy school. We will facilitate collaborative MCAT, DAT, and other standardized test study spaces, student-led groups, and access to learning tools shared by members of our community. Through events and panels, we also plan to invite physicians, grad students, and healthcare professionals to speak about their experiences, offering valuable insight into clinical exposure, research opportunities, and the application process as a whole. We believe that financial barriers should never stand in the way of a student's ability to pursue a career in healthcare. That is why we plan to actively raise funds to support scholarship programs and charitable initiatives aimed at increasing access to education. PULSE is committed to walking alongside students aspiring to the healthcare track, fostering a collaborative, informed, and inclusive community of future physicians, and helping eliminate the feeling of loneliness on this long journey.
