Purpose
Friends of Dialysis (FOD) aims to create a welcoming and comforting environment for dialysis patients and the community through meaningful outreach and support. The club seeks to host events at dialysis centers and facilities, recognizing that patients with kidney disease often face not only physical exhaustion but also mental and emotional strain. By involving undergraduate students and volunteers, FOD provides opportunities to give patients encouragement and companionship during their treatment journeys. In addition, the organization collaborates with healthcare facilities and partner organizations to advance its mission of fostering belonging and care. Beyond direct patient support, FOD also works to raise awareness about kidney disease, dialysis, and the importance of preventative healthcare. Members gain opportunities to both learn about kidney health and actively contribute to awareness efforts. Another key initiative includes assembling supportive kits for patients in dialysis centers, offering comfort and practical aid as part of the club’s commitment to compassion and community support.
