- Purpose
- Effective Altruism (EA) is a community dedicated to addressing a simple question: how can we do the most good possible? Effective Altruism at UC San Diego aims to equip students with the skills, tools, and community to think rigorously about how to optimize their own impact, and then support students in implementing their goals. We discuss cause prioritization, read and evaluate research, debate big and small questions, think about what makes an effective career or effective donation, and provide intensive 1:1 career building support for students interested in EA-aligned career paths. We also connect to a global network of EA-aligned campus groups and research institutes, incubators, philanthropies, and startup charities in the Effective Altruism space.
