Purpose
Common Cause is a nonpartisan, national grassroots organization dedicated to strengthening democracy in the United States by promoting pro-democracy reforms and accountable government, protecting voting rights, and increasing civic participation. Establishing a Common Cause chapter at UC San Diego will bring this mission to campus by educating and empowering students to become active participants in the democratic process. This will be accomplished through events and initiatives such as voter registration drives, election and democracy education seminars, and student advocacy and organizing trainings. The purpose of the UC San Diego chapter is to advance Common Cause’s mission on campus and increase student participation in the democratic process in a nonpartisan manner, particularly as the 2026 midterm elections approach.
