- Purpose
- The purpose of having a SAMi (Sephardi/Mizrahi American Initiative) on campus is to create an inclusive space that represents and uplifts the diverse identities within the Jewish community, particularly Sephardi and Mizrahi students who are often underrepresented in traditional Jewish campus life. SAMi works to educate the broader campus about Middle Eastern, North African, and Mediterranean Jewish histories and cultures, foster a strong sense of belonging and community, and provide a platform for cultural expression, leadership, and advocacy. By hosting cultural, educational, and social programming, SAMi enriches Jewish life on campus while promoting understanding, visibility, and inclusion across the wider student body.
