- Purpose
- Chalk it Up is a research seminar series aimed at providing a platform for graduate students to present their research in a low-stakes environment to make interdisciplinary research talks within the biological sciences more accessible to undergraduate students. Traditionally, research seminars are catered towards graduate students, postdocs and faculty, and are quite technical and nuanced, making them inaccessible to individuals without expertise in the domain of the presenter. Distinguished from current initiatives on campus, our seminar series adds the unique element of chalk talks, the nature of which requires talks to be more engaging, focused on core concepts, and digestible for a broader interdisciplinary audience.
