Purpose
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) at UC San Diego exists to discuss what mental illness is, how it affects people and their family members, and how to advocate for them. The club will participate in outreach volunteering opportunities available at NAMI San Diego, and be able to volunteer for the "Friends in the Lobby" program that NAMI has at Scripps Mercy Hospital, and is expanding to other hospitals. The club will also have monthly GBMs to discuss topics in psychiatry and behavioral health, and aims to provide basic functional education on common mental illnesses. The club's main group event will be the annual NAMI Walk, where we will walk as a team.
