Purpose
Highly recommended for student activists, political science majors, anyone interested in government or politics, and anyone looking for a way to get involved on campus. GENup Collegiate at UCSD is a student org that teaches our members to work with state legislation, UC policy, and grassroots advocacy to create positive change in higher education. Joining our org is a chance to learn how state government works and how to effectively organize students around a cause. By joining us, you will become part of a nationwide network of over 100 chapters of student activists promoting higher educational opportunities for all! Some projects we will be working on include: - Advocating for SB14, a bill that will implement mental health days and mental health training for high school students and staff - Creating a new UC policy to report hate speech and hold perpetrators accountable - Working with CALPIRG, state legislation, and FAFSA to make college more affordable and accessible
