- Purpose
- The Taiwanese American Student Association (TASA) at the University of California, San Diego is an organization that provides a community for Taiwanese Americans and those interested in Taiwanese culture. The organization creates a culture of unity within San Diego and extends across universities. We promote cultural awareness by building a community of motivated, dedicated, and curious students through our social and cultural activities that take place throughout the year. The Taiwanese-American identity is one that is very diverse and at times, divisive. Despite this, individuals ranging from those who barely identify themselves as Taiwanese, to those who feel passionately about Taiwanese culture, are all still unified under a common background. Thus, those with the Taiwanese-American identity have the potential to develop into a tight-knit community as strong leaders with a unified voice in this nation and college community.
