Purpose
The purpose of the organization shall be to promote and celebrate the art of Lindy Hop, a vibrant partner dance that originated in the African American communities during the 1920s and 1930s. The organization aims to educate students about the dance itself, as well as the history and cultural significance of Lindy Hop while fostering an inclusive and welcoming space for all individuals, regardless of their skill level, race or gender identity. We are committed to breaking down traditional gender roles in dance, encouraging equal participation and partnership in Lindy Hop. We will also occasionally feature other dance styles from this era, including Charleston, Balboa, Collegiate Shag, and West Coast Swing. People of all skill levels are welcome and no partner is required to join!
