- The Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) is a national, nonprofit, technical society of engineers, geoscientists, architects, planners, public officials, and social scientists. EERI members include researchers, practicing professionals, educators, government officials, and building code regulators. The primary purpose of the UCSD Student Chapter is motivate and encourage future professionals into applying the best practices on Earthquake Engineering. The Chapter aims to provide the necessary knowledge to highlight the relevance of adequate seismic performance due to its impact on the social, economic, political, and cultural environment.rance of the professional development of students.
