- Purpose
- Our mission is to re-humanize inmates and reduce recidivism rates within the San Diego community. We believe that facilitating book groups with prisoners can aid in this process by promoting healthy human interaction. Interactions among inmates and between inmates and volunteers can help build or re-build prisoners’ ability to function with other people. It can also help to re-humanize inmates who have by making prisoners feel heard and instilling self-worth. We hope that these skills and values make it easier for prisoners to re-enter society and thus prevent them from committing further crimes.
